Illinois HS Hoops Controversy

WASHINGTON - The West Hancock basketball program has had a lot of success in previous years. Between the co-op of two schools, Hamilton High School and Warsaw High School, the basketball team is classified as 2A with a total enrollment of 552 students. Washington High School, classified as a 3A program, has a total enrollment of 1,451 students. Nonetheless, the West Hancock Titans gave Tournament of Champions’ host Washington all they could handle as the Titans trailed 45-43 with just seconds left in the game. With little time to get off a shot, the Titans found senior Cooper Knowles on the wing who hoisted a 3-pointer for the win. As clearly seen in the video, a Washington defender (name not listed on any online rosters), puts two hands on the shooter and alters the shot from Knowles at the horn. The foul that should have been called was in no way malicious, but it was however very blatant. The eyes of the referee are clearly on the play as he chokes on the whistle. Was this a little bit of home cooking from the referees for Washington in their own Tournament of Champions? You be the judge.
